The Magix Jukebox Museum
(opens in spring 2011)
Wervikstraat
The Magic Jukebox Museum is unique in
Belgium. Visitors can admire some 80 ready-to-play jukeboxes and over 200 old
radios. The cafeteria and furniture date from the sixties. A visit to this
museum is really unforgettable. Not only the shiny jukeboxes, but also the
music, bring a nostalgic bit of recent history back to life.
The Municipal Museum ‘t Schippershof
Rijselstraat 77
These historical premises dating from
the 17th century have been restored in the period 1996-1998. They
now house a fascinating municipal museum. The art collection mainly emphasizes
the sculpture of Yvonne Serruys (Menen 1873 - Paris 1953), Georges Dobbels (Menen
1910 - Brussels 1988) and Johan Tahon (Menen 1965). Two galleries depict the
major periods in the history of the town: customs and border, flax industry,
First World War, the Menen ramparts,... The museum also organizes interesting
temporary exhibitions. And to finish off an informative visit, the cafeteria
invites you to have a drink.
Entrance fee: € 2 - groups: € 1.50
